| Well…after
19 months of waiting, traveling thousands of miles,
spending HOURS in airplanes, we are finally home and
together as a family! It was such an incredible welcome
we received at the airport. Of course, we only had
eyes for our boys at first but then we realized how
many people were there to welcome us. It was really
great to be able to share our homecoming with so many
friends and family. Everyone has been so terrific and
so kind to us and Alyssa. To be honest, I’m a
bit sad and miss being in China with all our new friends.
It is taking some adjusting to being home and getting
back to “reality”. Caleb, Dylan and Nathan
have been fantastic and are so excited! They have been
great entertainers for Alyssa. When we were in China
we couldn’t put Alyssa down at all without her
screaming. Since we’ve been home (only 3 days)
she will sit and play on the floor, she will sit in
her highchair and after a major screaming fit, finally
went in her car seat. Alyssa seems to be settling in
very well and even seems to have caught on to the night-day
transition. The first night she was up at 3:00 am for
the day and luckily Chris agreed to take that shift
with her. I couldn’t have moved anyway my body
was too exhausted! We were very careful with her naps
the second day and that night she slept 13 hours!!!!
We couldn’t believe it. Tonight she went to bed
at 7:00 pm without any problems and we are hoping she’ll
be down for the night again.
We took her to church today and she loved all the people. She doesn’t seem
to be very shy and will let other people hold her. She still looks around to
make sure mommy and daddy are there but we are very surprised by how easy going
she is. She is definitely a different little girl from when we first got her!

She
is “walking” everywhere, holding on to our hands and
I know she will be walking on her own soon. We hope so anyway because
our backs are getting pretty tired. The boys love to make her laugh
and she gets quite a kick out of them!
Chris
and I are so thankful to everyone who helped out – Thank you
to Scott Stewart for doing the most amazing website EVER! It has
been a fantastic way to keep in touch with our friends and family
and to share our journey with everyone! Thank you to Allan (Papa)
and Carol for taking care of Caleb and Dylan for the first week we
were away. They had so much fun and were well loved! Thank you to
Grampie George and Great Grammie Lorraine for taking care of Caleb
and Dylan the 2 nd week we were away. I know the were spoiled just
a little…but that’s okay…they deserve it! Thank
you to all our friends, family and even strangers, who signed our
guestbook, sent emails and were just there to support us with prayers
and thoughts. It has truly been a fantastic experience for us all!!!
We want to be able to add updates every now and then so keep checking back
to the site. We have lots of friends and family who live away so this is
a great way for you to see Alyssa and get to know her before we get to
visit you all!

| Chris
and I had a short layover in Toronto on our way home and Dianne
and Dawn drove there to meet Alyssa for the first time! We
only had about 15 minutes to visit but it was great to see
familiar faces and to see Alyssa with some family! It was a
great 15 minutes! |
Finally,
our family is complete (for now anyway :)). Family photo
taken at the Charlottetown airport! I can’t believe
we are finally home with Alyssa!

Alyssa
is having so much fun with the boys. They are so silly
and she loves to laugh at them. We FINALLY were able to
put her on the floor (using the boys as a distraction!)
for a few minutes.

After
months of painting and preparing Alyssa’s room she
finally is sleeping in her crib! I spent so MANY nights standing
in her room looking into that crib just waiting for the moment
we could bring her home to it! It is still too much to think
she is finally here with us!

Great
Grammie Lorraine came to our house to help look after Caleb
and Dylan while we were in China . She was such a tremendous
help to my dad and she was very excited to be part of Alyssa’s
homecoming. Here she is holding a very tired Li Li. |

Alyssa
with Grammie Lynda. This little girl has never had so many
people to love and cherish her. She is loving it!
|
Alyssa
and Grampie George become great friends! I know they are
going to miss each other when he goes back to Nova Scotia. |
Alyssa
enjoying some time with her Papa! Alyssa is certainly not shy
and loves it when people play with her! |
